Back in October we announced SQ pathwAI – our automated Patient Flow Management system, supported by Innovate UK. Read that article to get a reminder of some of the exciting technical developments the team are working on. Today I’d like to focus on some of the ways the pathwAI system will help hospitals to overcome the significant challenges caused by COVID-19.

We are all acutely aware that the longer we are in this crisis the longer and harder the recovery will be, particularly in Healthcare, with huge and ever-increasing waiting lists for treatment and appointments. The key challenge for hospitals is to let us all back in safely. Safe for their staff and safe for the patients. Thanks to Innovate UK the SQ team are developing some of the most advanced solutions in terms of keeping staff and patients safe during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our team are working hard to deliver automated social distancing and flow management tools to our own NHS, which will allow hospitals to see patients safely and in higher numbers. Not only will this enable hospitals to make a safer and more rapid recovery, it will also deliver significant improvements for patients. A much larger group of patients will be able to access services, both inside and outside the hospital. We will post regular updates during the next 6 months as we install in our first 5 hospitals across the UK.
