The iconic starting point of the Backrooms. Endless halls of yellowed wallpaper, fluorescent lighting that hums incessantly, and the damp smell of old carpet. The monotony is broken only by the arrangement of pillars and the occasional variation in the environment.
You begin at the center of Level 0, where conditions are relatively stable. The further you travel from the center, the more dilapidated and dangerous the environment becomes - broken floors, collapsed sections, damaged lighting, and increasingly aggressive entity spawns mark your distance from safety.

Ambush wanderers in hallways. Will steal items or deal damage.
Release infectious spores when disturbed.
Invade electrical devices. Drain sanity on contact.
Stalk from ceilings - tails hang down, grins track you with clicking noises. Shine a flashlight to lure them down. In the deepest areas, they roam freely in full serpentine form.
Only appears on rare Level 0 variations. Destroying one unlocks the Rare Game achievement.
Deep in the dilapidated sections of Level 0, where the floor gives way to crumbling tile and collapsed scaffolding, a parachute hangs tangled in the destroyed ceiling infrastructure. Attached to it is The Parachute Pack - a military-style backpack that belonged to some unfortunate soul who no-clipped from a great height.
Effect: Increases inventory capacity by +3 slots, allowing you to carry more items throughout your journey.
Location: Found only in the Edge zone of Level 0, where danger rating increases to Epsilon. Search among the debris and collapsed sections.
